NAVIGATION PROGRAM

 Aim

     To provide advanced navigational intellectuals who can meet the national and international requirements for high-level seafarers.

 Learning outcomes

     Students should study the basic theories and knowledge of ship handling, anti-collision, stowage of goods as well as maintenance and management of ship, and receive basic training of nautical skill, usage of navigation-aids, GMDSS, etc.

      After successfully finished all the courses, students should be able to:
1.have the basic knowledge regarding social science, environment protection and professional ethic
2.master the fundamental scientific theories and knowledge of navigation.
3.process the systematic professional knowledge such as international regulations, shipping management.
4.obtain a good practical ability and necessary navigation skills.
5.have a good command of English, pass the exam of CET-4 (College English Test )
6.have a strong ability in computer application, information acquisition and treating.
7.know the latest technologies and trends of shipping industry.
8.have the strong adaptability on working environment, not only working as a deck officer but also some other shipping related works for instance the ship surveyor.

     Main courses: Navigation, Watch-keeping and Collision Avoidance at Sea, Ship Structures and Equipments, Transportation of Goods at Sea, Nautical Meteorology, Ship Management, Navigational Aids, Marine Radio Communication, Business of Transportation at Sea, Maritime Law, and so on.

     Navigation Training, Route Planning, Integrated Sailing Training, Seamanship, Chart Work, Vessel Positioning, Compass Error Observation, Storage and Secure Of Goods, the Usage of Navigation-Aids, Radar Plotting and ARPA, etc.
